We would like to spread the word about the local charity “There’s No Place Like Home’, a ministry of the Grace Community Church in Rochester, NH. They are a non-profit committed to facilitating the rebuilding after natural disasters for families that lack the resources to rebuild themselves. They work directly with the public school building trade centers and build modular homes then have them transported to the families in need.
After the Mothers day flood in NH in 2006, they built and delivered two homes and two more are currently under construction. The students themselves are currently building one of those homes at Dover High School in Dover, NH!
We at Mamaka Mills LOVE this charity and especially love the empowerment it is bringing so many high school students as they learn hands on carpentry, marketing, electrical work, and so many other important trades.
We have donated one of our “Oxford Strip” Quilts to the auction to be held May 8, 2009 from 5:30-9 pm at Dover High School! Come down and check out all the wonderful items that have been donated for both the live and the silent auctions and in the process, help support a wonderful project that is doing so much good for the people of NH. Their Gala event will be catered by the Dover High School Culinary Arts Program and there will be live music and dancing as well!
