This is just a quick tutorial for how to bind a quilt, very easily and quickly.
I have read so many methods of how to bind that are SO complicated and difficult to do!
There seem to be so many different schools of thought on this subject so I will just say this...
Do what you feel most comfortable doing!
This type of binding is what I love to do because it's fast and easy!!
So first of all I cut strips of the desired color with a ruler. In this case I believe this ruler was made just for strip binding but I could be wrong...
Then I lay a strip on the back side and sew to the edge of my foot. I don't pin but I do adjust the strip as I sew along to make sure it is straight. Try to be very careful here and be as accurate as you can, it'll make sense when you turn it over. (in this pic the purple and aqua striped fabric is the back)
After you sew on strips on all four sides you turn over the quilt and fold over the edge until it's tight against the edge of the quilt! The strip will naturally want to fold at the required amount because you are continuing on a straight line!
When you get to the end, just sew right off the end of the strip.
I like to have straight folds at my corners not mitered like you may be used to.
And ta dah!
That's it!
Just sew all four sides straight and you will have a beautiful, bump free binding in a fraction of the time you thought it would take you!!
